                      Valentine Card Holders
Because it was so much fun making our Valentine Card Holders last year, I decided to do them again this year. The little change I made was to offer the children, ahead of time, a choice of three different designs they could use to make their holders. This added flavor to our activity, as well as excitement, as the children were surprised and pleased to see a variety of designs. I also got to know the children a little bit better! The graphics used for this project are from pc Crafter.

Though the directions are posted on chart paper, another change I made was to type the directions and hand them out as a worksheet so they could be reviewed during center work. I did them in checklist form so that the children could keep track as they proceeded through the steps. We reviewed what we learned as a skill lesson about following a set of written directions prior to starting our project.

We learned about teamwork, lending a helping hand to our neighbor when they were stuck on a step, and responsibility for cleaning up our mess when our project was completed. We got a lot accomplished in a short amount of time. Now all we need are the Valentines!
