What is Science? |
|
The following lessons were shared by a colleague. We begin the year by trying to define what "science" is. The objective of the lesson is to introduce the children to the Scientific Method, as well as generate a list of science rules to be used in the classroom throughout the school year. We make notes on The Scientific Method worksheet, and I copy this worksheet throughout the year to be used as needed.

What is a Scientist? |
| The
children really enjoy this activity! After drawing a picture of what they
THINK a scientist looks like, a discussion is generated based on their
interpretations. The goal is to dispel the "mad scientist" picture that many
children have, as well as to have them realize that ANYONE is and can be a
