The building below is the National Stadium, otherwise known as the "Bird's Nest," where the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Olympic games will take place. Imagine our surprise when our driver asked us, quite unexpectedly, if we'd be interested in seeing it! We were sooooo excited! Little did we know that our "seeing it" consisted of just that! Our driver pulled off the road in heavy traffic so we could get out of the van to take pictures! Nonetheless, it is a memory that will be vivid as I watch the Olympic games this summer. I'm certain that every so often I'll let out a bit of a chuckle as I reminisce. |
