School and Community Involvement
The Red Creek Central School District is located on the shores of Lake Ontario in Eastern Wayne County and Northern Cayuga County. It is approximately 20 miles from Oswego and Auburn, 40 miles from the City of Syracuse and 50 miles from the City of Rochester. The district encompasses the hamlets of Martville and Victory and the villages of Red Creek and Fair Haven. The area is well known for its beautiful Lake Ontario sunsets, boating, year-round fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, golfing, and swimming.
The school has a successful track record of passed budgets attained through the continued support from the community. Our students have achieved educational success on NCLB New York State tests, SAT scores and graduation rate. After the 2007 school year our SAT scores were the highest in Wayne County and 10th out of 78 schools in a six county area. Our elementary and middle schools have received recognition as a “High Performing Gap Closing School” from the state education department.
We are fortunate to have an active and supportive PTA that works closely with administration to support a wide variety of events for our children.
Red Creek is a small, rural, personalized, and family oriented school focused on community. We pride ourselves on a shared commitment toward educating our children.
The school buildings are housed within a single campus location and are in excellent condition. Technology is a district priority with Apple iPads for every student in Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms, and a Chromebook 1:1 program for Grades 1-12, district-wide wireless access, and computers and printers in every classroom.
A unique community recreational center is available for staff year-round. It is complete with a fitness room, jogging track, full-size gymnasium, swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa, racquetball court and meeting room. Outside, we have tennis courts, basketball courts, and many fields for outdoor activities.
Instructional programs emphasize basic skill development in reading, writing, and mathematics as well as science, social studies, technology and the arts. Socialization skills and character education are an integral part of the daily program.
The elementary school boasts a strong focus on literacy. As a former Reading First school, numerous early interventions are employed to ensure that all students are reading on grade level by grade 3. Additionally, all students are provided with hands-on experiences and in-depth instruction in math by our team of math experts.
The middle school offers accelerated classes, advisory time, exploratory and targeted study halls. Our middle school fosters educational, development and social needs for this unique age group.
The high school is renowned for offering dual-credit college courses, on campus and on-line. Our faculty is highly respected and trained, and operates on a semester block schedule. Our Learning Center is available to all MS/HS students to ensure success for all.
Our music program has numerous opportunities for both band and chorus students with an emphasis on wide scale participation in All-County and Solo Fest. The Art department focuses on building basic skills as well as fostering growth in individual talents in students K-12.
Throughout the district there is an increased awareness and focus on physical and mental wellness. From Character Education to the creation of our district walking trail, the Red Creek Central School District is committed to building strong bodies, strong minds, and developing lifelong healthy habits.
