*Local Diploma:
The Local Diploma is an option available for some students currently in high school. Since New York State is phasing the local diploma out, only students scheduled to graduate in June 2009, 2010, and 2011 have the local diploma option. The requirements are the same as the Regents Diploma but the passing score is a minimum of a 55% for some Regents Exams as noted below.
For students graduating in:
2009- must pass 2 of the 5 required regents exams with a 65. The remaining 3 may be between 55-64.
2010- must pass 3 of the 5 required regents exams with a 65. The remaining 2 may be between 55-64.
2011- must pass 4 of the 5 required regents exams with a 65. The remaining 1 may be between 55-64.
2012-must pass all 5 required regents exams with a 65.
Local Diploma with the Regents Competency Exams (RCT):
For students with a disability who first enter grade 9 in or after September 2001 and prior to September 2010 who do not get the required 55% on a Regents Exam, may substitute a RCT in that subject with a minimum score of a 65%. These students will earn a Local Diploma.
