Alumni Day 2025: A Celebration of Success and Connection

Alumni Day 2025: A Celebration of Success and Connection

On January 14, 2025, the Red Creek Central School District’s Career Center hosted its annual Alumni Day, bringing together more than two dozen former students to share their post-graduation experiences. Organized by technology teacher and Career Center advisor Rick Durocher, with support from newly appointed guidance counselor Amber Basko, this year’s event marked its second consecutive return following a hiatus during the pandemic.

Alumni spanning graduating classes from 1979 to 2024 came to speak with juniors and seniors, offering insights into the diverse paths they have taken. Students heard stories from alumni who pursued four- and two-year college programs, careers in trades, the service industry, and the military. “It’s very impressive when you look at our alumni,” said Durocher. “We have a Superintendent of Schools, accountants, financial planners, architects, and even a graduate conducting embryonic research while working on her doctorate. Additionally, many of our alumni are thriving in trade unions. It’s inspiring to see such a wide range of accomplishments.”

The event gave students a glimpse of the possibilities that lie ahead and emphasized the value of hard work and determination. For many, it also served as a celebration of community. “It’s a fun day, kind of like a little reunion,” added Durocher.

As juniors and seniors listened to the speakers, they were reminded of the strength of the connections within the Red Creek community and the wealth of opportunities awaiting them after graduation. Events like Alumni Day continue to highlight the school’s commitment to preparing students for life beyond high school, while also honoring the achievements of its graduates.
