Elementary Students Explore Careers Through Skills for Success
Since the start of the school year, Cuyler Elementary School students have been exploring a wide variety of careers through their Skills for Success class. Students were introduced to professionals from multiple career fields and had the opportunity to learn not only what people do in those roles, but also to gain practical skills and knowledge connected to each profession.
Throughout the year, students learned from visits and experiences with professionals such as a dental hygienist, nutritionist, banker, school resource officer, director of transportation, pediatrician, biologist, and firefighters. These experiences were thoughtfully paired with age-appropriate life skills, including health and wellness, safety, problem-solving, responsibility, and community awareness, helping students make meaningful connections between learning and real life.
This initiative has recently concluded, and every elementary grade level had the opportunity to participate in at least one career-focused experience. Students were engaged, curious, and enthusiastic as they explored how classroom learning connects to the many important roles within their school and community.
