Red Creek High School Launches Academic Recovery: Where Students Aim Higher
- High School
Dear Parents, Guardians and Red Creek High School Students:
I hope this communication finds each of you well as we move through the academic school year.
I am writing to inform you of an afterschool program designed to assist and support all of our high school students in grades 9-12.
The afterschool program is called - Academic Recovery.
What is Academic Recovery?
Academic Recovery is an afterschool program designed to provide a safe, quiet, encouraging and supportive working environment for students in grades 9-12. All students are welcome to come to the afterschool Academic Recovery program to work on their courses of study, including, but not limited to, individual studies or assignments, group projects, presentations, review sessions, test prep, etc.
Although the emphasis is still very much about academics, Academic Recovery is also a time for students to work together, to foster and build relationships, and to continue placing a focus on taking our academic initiatives and studies to the next achievement level.
In essence, in Red Creek CSD words, we will continue to "Aim Higher."
Please know, Academic Recovery is not a punishment, a consequence or a discipline assigned to students. The program is not designed or intended to be used for disciplinary measures. The program is an inclusive, welcoming environment for all students to access and utilize as needed.
We encourage and invite all students to attend. The atmosphere is more relaxed yet still conducive to learning. Students are allowed to have their electronic devices (cell phones). Students can access and listen to their music. Students can work individually or in small groups dependent upon the course of work being completed. Students are allowed to eat snacks and have beverages while working.
The overall goal is to provide an environment that is comfortable and conducive to learning while also allowing students to take charge/ownership of their own academic environment.
The afterschool Academic Recovery program will be staffed by one Red Creek instructor each night, Monday - Thursday throughout the school year - October through June.
The program will run:
▪ Monday - Thursday
▪ 3:30 - 4:45 pm
▪ Aligns with the late bus run for students needing a ride home from Academic Recovery
▪ Program Placement - High School Library
As always, please contact me should you have any questions regarding our Academic Recovery Program.
Thank you so much for your continued support of our students and our school.
Respectfully,
Timothy Gaffney
High School Principal
