Red Creek High School Welcomes New Counselor

Red Creek High School Welcomes New Counselor

Amber Blasko’s journey into school counseling began in the halls of Jordan Elbridge School District, where she grew up. Her passion for supporting students’ well-being and future goals was clear early on, driving her to pursue her education at SUNY Oswego. There, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, solidifying her expertise in counseling.

Amber’s hands-on experience began here at the Red Creek Central School District with her practicum under Mrs. Armstrong, where she worked closely with middle school students, providing one-on-one support and leading lunch groups. Her dedication continued as she undertook an internship at the high school level alongside Mrs. Pasker, assisting students with college and career planning, transcript reviews, and personal counseling. She then completed a second internship at Hannibal Middle School, gaining further experience that prepared her well for the challenges and rewards of school counseling.

Amber began her career covering a maternity leave position at Solvay Elementary, where she worked with young students to support their early educational journeys. Following this experience, she accepted her current role as a school counselor at Red Creek.

At 28 years old, Amber has much to celebrate in both her professional and personal life. She married her husband, Doug, in July 2023, and together they share their home with Boomer, their playful three-year-old lab. Outside of work, Amber loves hiking, crafting, and spending quality time with friends and family.
