May 2nd, 2023 - The Red Creek High School Envirothon team will be moving on to the New York State competition. The team took first place in the regional competition on Thursday, April 27th at the Montezuma Audobon Center. They were the top of more than ten teams that competed.

Thirteen students represented Red Creek as they experienced near perfect weather conditions. They had to test in the areas of Forestry, Soils, Wildlife, Sustainability, and Aquatics. In addition to testing, some students also had the unexpected hands-on experience with wildlife, catching a baby snake in a field. The students brought it to cover where it would be safe from predators.

"We are very proud of each student and excited to have the opportunity to represent Red Creek and Wayne County next month," said Joe Bonanno, who is one of the Envirothon coaches and science teacher at Red Creek High School.

The New York State competition will be at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva on May 24th and 25th.
