Red Creek Middle School Students Excel at Science Olympiad

Eight eighth-grade students recently proudly represented Red Creek Middle School at the Mid-State Middle School Science Olympiad Regional competition at North Syracuse Junior High School after weeks of preparation and teamwork. Science Olympiad challenges students to apply their knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on builds, labs, and rigorous academic testing events.

The Red Creek team, coached by Bridgit Johnson and Joe Bonanno, achieved several impressive results. Sawyer J. and Liam M. earned first place in the Boomilever build event, demonstrating outstanding engineering design and problem-solving skills. Kensey P. and Addison D. placed fifth in the Crime Busters lab event, showcasing their strong knowledge in forensic science and Nadia B. and Lilly A. earned sixth in the Dynamic Planet testing event, an event displaying their expertise in earth science, specifically oceanography. Chloe C. and Nicole C. competed in the Write It, Do It event, and did a terrific job applying attention to details. Additionally, a big thank you to high school student, Sophia S., for volunteering to assist in running events at the competition.

“Beyond these achievements, our students demonstrated curiosity, perseverance, and collaboration throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and the way they represented our district,” said Johnson.

Congratulations to the Red Creek Middle School Science Olympiad participants on a successful and exciting competition.
