Red Creek Musicians Shine at NYSSMA Solo Festival
On April 26th, talented band and chorus students from Red Creek High School showcased their musical skills at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festival, hosted at Webster Central Schools. Students prepared a solo piece, demonstrated scales, and sight-read music in front of a State Adjudicator, all in pursuit of earning a coveted spot in the 2025 Area All-State Junior or Senior High Ensembles.
Several Red Creek students went above and beyond by auditioning at the challenging All-State Level 6 — the highest level of NYSSMA adjudication — in hopes of qualifying for the prestigious NYSSMA All-State Ensembles. Students who audition at this level are held to the most rigorous standards, with instrumentalists and vocalists alike required to perform alongside an accompanist.
This year, Red Creek High School proudly had three students performing four auditions for All-State honors:
- Ethan H. on Alto Saxophone and Voice
- Braden M. on Voice
- Nathan G. on Snare Drum
Their dedication and talent are an outstanding accomplishment for the Red Creek music program. In a particularly exciting achievement, Ethan received a perfect score on his All-State Alto Saxophone solo — an extraordinary feat that highlights his hard work and exceptional musicianship.
Music directors, Mrs. Little and Mrs. White, shared how proud they are of all the students who participated in this year’s festival, applauding their effort, perseverance, and passion for music.
Bravo to all of Red Creek’s outstanding performers!
