Red Creek Welcomes Sixth-graders to the Middle School

The transition to middle school is a big milestone, and incoming sixth-graders at Red Creek are preparing to take an exciting next step in their educational journey.

Students recently had the opportunity to visit the school for sixth-grade orientation, where they met their teachers, explored their new classrooms and practiced opening their lockers and using their combinations. The experience helped students become familiar with their new surroundings before the first day of school.

As students enter middle school, they will experience new opportunities and responsibilities. With six classes each day, students will transition between classrooms and take an increasingly active role in their own learning. Red Creek's focus on student-centered instruction encourages students to develop a growth mindset, set goals and build the skills needed to become responsible, independent learners.

Middle school also brings new opportunities to explore interests and get involved. Students will have more extracurricular activities to choose from and will participate in a 10-week exploratory schedule featuring technology, art, health and career awareness.

Additionally, students will have access to a 10th-period opportunity for clubs, extra help and time to complete schoolwork. Homework will be assigned as students continue developing important organizational and time-management skills.

From navigating new hallways and locker combinations to discovering new interests and setting personal goals, sixth grade marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
