Varsity Golf Team Honored at Banquet

October 27th, 2022 - Members of the 2022 Varsity Golf Team were honored at a Banquet at Springbrook Green State Golf Course on Tuesday. The following student athletes were recognized for their great achievements this season.

Maddie Jones- Senior 1st Varsity Letter for Golf.  Maddie played in the 3rd spot most of the season, averaging 62 and shooting a low round of 55 here at home against Gananda.  Maddie is another great addition since golf got moved to the fall, I only wish she could have played since Middle School.

Maddie has earned Athlete of the Month for September, and she also played in every match this season, and made every practice.  She has been a great role model for the younger athletes, and has an outstanding attitude and work ethic.

For all of these reasons, she is the recipient of the Coaches Award.

Maddie plans on attending Robert Weslyn College.

Ty Ellis- Junior  4th Varsity Letter in golf. Ty led the team in low average this year again, averaging 44 and shot his career low 37 here at home against Lyons/Williamson. Ty was medalist for most of the matches he played in. Ty made the Section V Qualifier again and was Medalist shooting 97 for 18 holes at Wayne Hills. He will represent Red Creek and Wayne County at the Section V Championship in May. For all of the reason mentioned above, Ty is the recipient of the Most Valuable Player Award.

Cohlton James- Junior 1st Varsity Letter in golf.  Cohlton played in the 2 spot most of the season, averaging 52 and shot his low round of 47 here at home, twice.  Cohlton also made it to the Section V qualifier at Wayne Hills, and made 2nd team Wayne County All-Star.  He is the recipient of the special Coaches Award.

Noah Denisi- 8th Grader 1st Varsity Letter. Noah played in 7 matches this season, averaging 70, he shot his low round of the season here at home with a 69 against Gananda and NRW.  Noah also started at golf camp and decided to give a try, and hopefully he sticks with it!  Noah is one of two players that played in every match this season. Noah brings a positive attitude to this team.

Logan Dougherty- 7th Grader 1st Varsity Letter. Logan played in 5 matches averaging 66, and he had a low round of 59 here at home against Gananda and NRW.  He has gotten a lot better from when he first showed up at golf camp over the summer, and hopefully he will continue to work on his game before next season.
