Varsity Girls Wrestling Begins Season
The Rams girls varsity wrestling team participated in two weekend events.
Friday Night in Newark Valley
The Lady Rams kicked off the weekend with a round-robin tournament in Newark Valley, facing strong competitors from mostly Section 4 teams.
- Rose Southwick fought hard, finishing with a 3-2 record and earning 5th place out of 10.
- Callie Butler also delivered a solid performance, ending the night with a 3-2 record and securing 5th place out of 9.
Saturday’s Lady Alexander Invitational
Early Saturday morning, the team hit the road again, departing at 6 a.m. for the Lady Alexander Invitational. Despite the challenging schedule, both athletes showed resilience.
- Callie Butler battled through the day, demonstrating her growth and determination despite a few setbacks. She finished 4th out of 9 competitors.
- Rose Southwick had an exceptional day, dominating her bracket and going undefeated with a 4-0 record to claim the top spot on the podium.
By the end of the weekend, both wrestlers achieved impressive results:
- Callie Butler: 6-4 overall record
- Rose Southwick: 7-2 overall record, including a championship win at the Lady Alexander Invitational.
Next up for the Lady Rams is their home event, the Clash at the Creek Girls’ Freestyle Event, on December 22.
